My Philosophy

How We Got Here

As a digital faith community, Unfit Christian focuses on how our relationship to faith informs our complex political ideologies of race, gender, & sexual identities. Unfit Christian challenges the American Evangelical legacies of racism, white supremacy, and marginalization of non-white, -cisgender, -heterosexual bodies by making theology public, accessible, and inclusive. My work reconciles faith and marginalized identity while guiding my audience towards integrated faith practices that empower and recognize their full humanity.

While the Christian Left continues to gain visibility politically, the dialogue is often absent of marginalized voices. As faith influences our politics, our marginalized identities also inform our relationship to faith. Unfit Christian cultivates space that challenges the reality of being both Black (and/or Queer, Femme, etc.) and Christian, a religious tradition plagued by racism, sexism, trans- and homo-antagonism, and systemic oppression. I consult sacred texts, academia, and communal knowledge to deconstruct religious beliefs and traditions of their oppressive origins. My audience includes both theists and atheists alike who have experienced religious trauma within traditional religious spaces.

As a creator, I inspire people to believe that there is room at the table for all of us — no matter how radically different our approach to God. Unfit Christian is radically sex-positive, LGBTQ-affirming, & Black-centered. By creating digestible educational content that integrates Black culture, history, and politics, I help others experience inclusive, transformative faith relationships.

the mission

Unfit Christian is a Black woman-owned brand that transforms our relationship to faith by educating, inspiring, and mobilizing people to do the work of justice, equity, & impacting social change.

We believe that a decolonized spiritual practice is an foundational tool for self-determination, communal care, radical healing, and sociopolitical liberation for race, gender, and sexual expression.
